28th Annual Sanibel/Captiva Luminary Festival, December 7 – 8

Just returned from Captiva, where I attended the annual Christmas holiday Luminary Festival. Island residents and businesses lined the roads with candles, strung lights everywhere, and threw one heck of a shindig. The Travel Channel even showed up. The weekend’s highlight was a Saturday afternoon Captiva golf-cart parade (bottom photo). Although the evening crowds packed heavily-festooned Andy Rosse Lane on Captiva, my favorite (the most captivating!) lighting display was at Captiva’s historic 1904 Chapel By The Sea (see below).
